RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesian Quarantine Agency intensifies the supervision of sacrificial animal traffic in anticipation of Eid al-Adha 2026. It is to prevent the spread of quarantine animal pests and diseases (HPHK) in support of national food security.

This supervision targets the public and business operators to meet strict requirements for inter-island livestock traffic. It includes detailed animal health certificate requirements.

Deputy of Animal Quarantine of the Indonesian Quarantine Agency, Sriyanto, emphasized that supervision is carried out at all quarantine service units to ensure animals are healthy and free from diseases such as FMD, lumpy skin disease (LSD), and even zoonoses, anthrax, and brucellosis. Quarantine officers at all technical implementation units (UPT) are on standby 24 hours in 7 days (24/7) to conduct health inspections, document completeness, and disinfection of transport equipment.

"24/7 quarantine alert services are available at all UPTs, especially at the entry and exit points for sacrificial animals. We also continue to disseminate the requirements to the public and business operators thru UPTs in various regions, so that the surge in traffic does not pose a health risk," Sriyatno conveyed in a press release in Jakarta, Monday, April 20, 2026.

Based on quarantine certification data (Best Trust), the traffic of sacrificial animals began several months earlier. The period from January to June 2025 recorded a national traffic of 475,284 animals, dominated by cattle with 271,037 head and goats with 192,956 head. The data from May last year showed a peak in traffic, reaching 190,545 animals, an increase of 135% from April.

The same period in 2026, this figure is projected to be higher in line with national demand, reaching 218,208 heads or 52.91% by April 16, with an increase in volume each month compared to last year. The highest increase occurred in traffic from the origin regions, such as Lampung Province, West Nusa Tenggara, Bali, and East Nusa Tenggara.

Comparison of the January-March period in 2025 and 2026 shows a traffic surge trend of up to 13.75 percent, with each month being higher this year, based on historical patterns and Barantin's anticipation.

Meanwhile, Director of Animal Quarantine Actions Cicik of the Agency, Sri Sukarsih, added that this increase is anticipated with strict biosecurity measures.

"We recorded traffic for the January-March period, dominated by Lampung, NTB, Bali, and NTT to Java and Kalimantan, increasing by 13.75% compared to last year." "We check everything thru the Best Trust system to ensure that the quarantine certification process remains fast without neglecting biosecurity aspects by implementing strict biosecurity measures," Cicik said.
