RRI.CO.ID, Bandung - The Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Indonesia commemorated the 71st anniversary of the Asian-African Conference (AAC) at Hotel Savoy Homann, Bandung, Sunday April 19, 2026. The event, themed “Bandung Spirit Culture as a Bridge for World Peace,” aims to revive the Bandung Principles in addressing global challenges.

The commemoration reaffirmed the relevance of the Bandung Spirit amid growing global uncertainty and rising conflicts. Indonesia views culture as a strategic instrument to strengthen peace and international cooperation.

Minister of Culture, Fadli Zon, highlighted the importance of culture as a foundation for national development. He said a culture based approach is increasingly vital in responding to a fragmented global landscape.

In his remarks, he stated, “Indonesia’s cultural policy places culture as the direction and foundation of national development, as a force to preserve identity, strengthen sovereignty, and build world peace. In line with the spirit of the Asian African Conference, we must continue to echo the Bandung Spirit, upholding solidarity, equality, and cooperation among nations as a moral force in facing an increasingly fragmented world.”

He added that the spirit of the Asian African Conference must continue to be strengthened as a global moral compass. According to him, solidarity, equality, and cooperation among nations are essential to addressing increasingly complex global challenges.

Furthermore, Indonesia under the leadership of Prabowo Subianto reaffirmed its commitment to remain on a non aligned path. The government also continues to actively engage in global cooperation while upholding the principles of the United Nations Charter.

At the national level, resilience is being strengthened through human resource development and food security. Various priority programs are also being implemented to support the vision of Golden Indonesia 2045.

The event was attended by several ambassadors from partner countries, including Egypt, Sudan, Cambodia, and Yemen, as well as representatives from Iraq, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Thailand, India, and Timor Leste. Their presence reflects a shared commitment among Asian and African nations to promote solidarity and advance global peace through cultural diplomacy.
