The commitment includes updating child account access provisions across all Meta platforms, in line with PP Tunas, which restricts account access for children under 16.
Meta’s Head of Public Policy for Asia Pacific, Rafael Frankel, officially announced the updated provisions.
“Meta has formally revised its Community Guidelines, setting the minimum age limit at 16 on all platforms, including Instagram, Facebook, and Threads. With this, compliance can be assessed and evaluated,” Minister Meutya said at a press conference on Thursday, April 9, 2026.
She appreciated Meta’s compliance with Indonesian regulations. Minister Meutya noted that Meta had requested additional time to deactivate all accounts belonging to children under 16.
The minister stressed that her office will strictly monitor the implementation of PP Tunas, emphasizing that compliance is essential to guarantee child protection in the digital space.
“Implementation must be carried out properly, and we have conveyed to Meta that we will supervise this compliance. Technical issues are not an obstacle, it is a matter of willingness and good faith from major platforms to comply with Indonesian law,” she added. (Misni Parjiati/Lasti Martina)
