RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Commission VIII of the House of Representatives (DPR RI) has assured that the 2026 Hajj pilgrimage for Indonesian pilgrims will remain safe and proceed according to schedule, despite escalating geopolitical tensions in the Middle East.
The government and Parliament have prepared anticipatory measures to mitigate potential risks arising from international conflicts.
Commission VIII lawmaker Aprozi Alam emphasized that Indonesia has long experience in managing the Hajj pilgrimage amid global uncertainties. “The 2026 Hajj will continue despite the conflict. The pilgrimage already has a security system and international commitments to protect pilgrims,” Aprozi said during a public discussion at the Parliament Building in Senayan, Jakarta, on Thursday, April 2, 2026.
The Golkar Party politician confirmed that the departure schedule for Indonesian pilgrims on April 22, 2026, remains unchanged. He noted that no significant obstacles have emerged so far, either in air transportation or in coordination with Saudi Arabian authorities.
“The government and the House of Representatives have anticipated various risk scenarios, including the possibility of worsening security conditions in the Middle East. However, the pilgrimage will proceed as long as the government does not declare a state of emergency,” Aprozi explained.
This provision is based on Law No. 14/2025 on the Implementation of the Hajj Pilgrimage, which grants the president authority to declare a state of emergency that could affect Hajj operations. Aprozi stressed that cross-sector coordination is key to maintaining national stability amid global uncertainty. “The government and Parliament are optimistic that the mitigation measures prepared will ensure the continuity of public services,” he said.
Concerns have been raised about the ongoing geopolitical conflict involving Iran, Israel, and the United States, but officials maintain that the safety and departure of Indonesian pilgrims remain under control.
Echoing this assurance, Head of the Bone Regency Ministry of Hajj and Umrah Office, Muhammad Rafi As’ad, said preparations are proceeding smoothly. “Our current task is focused on preparing the pilgrims’ departure, and all requirements have been properly arranged,” he stated during an RRI Bone talk show on April 1, 2026.
