RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Deputy Chairman of Commission I of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), Dave Akbarshah Fikarno, expressed deepest condolences over the death of an Indonesian Military (TNI) personnel during a peacekeeping mission in Lebanon. He stressed that the state bears full responsibility for protecting every soldier deployed abroad, including ensuring their safety while carrying out international mandates.
As reported by dpr.go.id, Dave stated that Indonesia’s participation in global peacekeeping missions is part of its commitment to maintaining global stability. However, he underscored that deploying troops to conflict zones must be accompanied by a comprehensive and well-measured protection system.
“We deeply mourn the loss of our TNI soldier who was carrying out an official duty. This is an ultimate sacrifice, and the state must be present to ensure maximum protection for every deployed personnel,” Dave said when met at the Nusantara II Building, Parliamentary Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Monday, 30 March 2026.
He noted that in every overseas assignment, safety cannot be an afterthought. According to him, the nation must ensure operational readiness, including personnel protection, logistical support, and strengthened field intelligence.
“Every deployment must be accompanied by adequate security guarantees. Our soldiers are in high-risk areas, so the state must not be negligent in ensuring their protection,” Dave said.
He also highlighted the importance of attention to the families of fallen soldiers. He stated that the state has both a moral and institutional responsibility to ensure that the rights of these families are fulfilled properly and sustainably.
“A soldier’s service does not end on the battlefield. The state must ensure that the families left behind receive proper care and protection,” he added.
Dave further stated that Commission I of the DPR RI will continue to carry out its supervisory role regarding policies on troop deployment in international missions. This is to ensure that every government decision prioritizes caution and maximum protection for soldiers.
He emphasized that Indonesia must remain active in global peacekeeping missions, but the safety of its soldiers must always be the top priority. “We support Indonesia’s active role in the international arena, but the safety of our soldiers must always come first,” he said.
