RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Immigration and Correctional Affairs Ministry has officially transitioned its administrative workforce to a Work From Anywhere (WFA) system following the Lebaran holiday. This move aims to curb national fuel subsidies and reduce the burden on the state budget.

The policy, which was implemented from March 25 to March 27, 2026, aims to significantly reduce the burden on the state budget by lowering daily fuel consumption related to employee commutes.

The Ministry’s Head of the Center for Data, Information, and Communication, M. Akbar Hadi Prabowo, confirmed the initiative in Jakarta on Friday, March 27, 2026. He emphasized that the shift was a calculated decision made prior to the holiday break.

"The Immigration and Correctional Affairs Ministry has implemented Work From Anywhere (WFA) from March 25 to March 27, 2026," Akbar said as quoted by Antara.

He noted that the primary objective of this measure is to reduce the burden on the state budget subsidy and save fuel consumption significantly.

The policy is strictly targeted at central and regional offices that do not provide direct public services, ensuring that essential operations remain undisrupted. Key facilities, including immigration service offices and correctional institutions such as prisons (Lapas), detention centers (Rutan), and correctional centers (Bapas), continue to operate at full capacity with on-site staff.

Akbar clarified that maintaining physical presence at these locations is vital, particularly during the festive season. "Offices that deal directly with the public remain open as usual," he said.

Akbar added that visitation services at prisons and detention centers are highly anticipated by the families of inmates during the Eid al-Fitr period.

As the initial three-day period concludes, the Ministry is currently evaluating the impact of the remote work arrangement. Further extensions of the WFA policy beyond March 30, 2026, remain under consideration.

According to Akbar, the internal administration is still waiting for directions from the Immigration and Correctional Affairs Minister, Agus Andrianto, regarding the operational status for the upcoming work week.
