RRI.CO.ID, Bone - Indonesian Minister of Agriculture, Andi Amran Sulaiman, reviewed the Tonra General Port project to strengthen agricultural logistics systems. The visit took place in Bone Regency on Thursday, March 19, 2026, during an official inspection. The project is expected to support regional growth and improve farmers’ market access.

The Minister inspected the port development in Bone Pute Village, Tonra District, Bone Regency. The visit aimed to ensure progress of the strategic infrastructure project. The government sees the port as a new driver of local economic growth.

The port is expected to address long-standing distribution challenges faced by farmers in the region. These include high logistics costs and limited access to wider domestic and export markets. Improved infrastructure will help farmers distribute products more efficiently and competitively.

Before delivering his statement, Amran highlighted the importance of efficient logistics for agricultural competitiveness. He emphasized the need for faster and more reliable distribution systems. The project is expected to strengthen both domestic and export market access for farmers.

“This port is not just ordinary infrastructure, but a key to accelerating agricultural logistics mobility. If distribution becomes faster and more efficient, our farmers’ products can be more competitive, both in domestic and export markets,” he said.

The Tonra General Port is being built with an investment value of Rp1.7 trillion. The project is developed by PT AAS Gemilang Mandiri as a modern logistics hub. It will serve general port operations, container services, and support industrial area development.

Amran said infrastructure development is crucial for strengthening the national logistics system across Indonesia. A stronger logistics system will directly support national food security in the long term. It also ensures farmers can obtain better added value from their products.

“If logistics are strong and distribution runs smoothly, then food security will also become stronger. This is important so that our farmers can gain better added value,” he said.

The port is also expected to create jobs for thousands of local workers in Bone Regency. Economic activity in the surrounding area is projected to increase significantly after operations begin. The government hopes the project will be completed on time and deliver real benefits.
