RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – Indonesia's Ministry of Transportation has ensured that subsidized pioneer shipping services will continue operating through the end of the 2026 fiscal year. It is to to maintain public mobility and the distribution of essential goods, particularly in remote and outermost regions.

Transportation Minister, Dudy Purwagandhi, made the statement after attending a parliamentary working meeting on subsidies for pioneer vessels serving Indonesia's outermost islands at the House of Representatives (DPR RI) complex in Jakarta on Monday.

"We will continue operating pioneer shipping services until the end of the fiscal year. Despite budget constraints, we have made the necessary adjustments, and most importantly, the services will not stop," he said.

According to the minister, services that had previously experienced delays have now resumed normal operations. To ensure continuity, the ministry is conducting daily monitoring of vessel operations, sailing schedules, and cargo loads, while strengthening coordination with shipping operators, local port authorities, regional governments, and other relevant agencies.

The ministry is also proposing additional budget allocations to prevent potential service disruptions. Over the longer term, it plans to strengthen funding support, improve the quality of vessels and port infrastructure, enhance the national logistics system, increase port capacity and intermodal connectivity, and regularly evaluate shipping routes to ensure they continue to meet public needs and support regional economic growth.

Dudy said subsidized pioneer shipping services remain one of the government's key instruments for ensuring basic public services, strengthening national connectivity, and promoting inclusive development.

For the 2026 fiscal year, the government is operating 107 pioneer shipping routes, 41 Sea Toll routes, six dedicated livestock shipping routes, and 18 rede transport routes to ensure transportation access and the distribution of logistics across the country.
