RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – The National Narcotics Agency of the Republic of Indonesia (BNN RI) carried out a large-scale destruction of confiscated narcotics on Wednesday, 18 February 2026. The operation, which took place at the BNN headquarters and a specialized facility in Karawang, showed the disposal of 102,369.90 grams of illicit substances.

According to the official press release, the bulk of the destroyed evidence consisted of 100,531.70 grams of crystal methamphetamine, locally known as sabu, and 889 grams of marijuana. In addition to these traditional narcotics, authorities destroyed a substantial amount of MDMB-4en-PINACA, a potent synthetic cannabinoid, which included 990 milliliters of liquid and 953.30 grams of solid form.

Before the incineration, the 5officials set aside small samples of each substance to serve as evidence for ongoing court proceedings and laboratory testing. This mass destruction is the culmination of five investigations that led to the arrest of 10 suspects.

The cases highlight the diverse tactics used by syndicates, ranging from residential distribution hubs in West Jakarta to large-scale smuggling routes in East Aceh. Over 100 kilograms of methamphetamine were intercepted in a vehicle during a highway sting operation.

Another significant breakthrough occurred in Tangerang, where BNN dismantled a clandestine laboratory that had been producing synthetic tobacco for two months.

Other notable interceptions included a courier caught at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport with methamphetamine sourced from Medan. Another notable case is bus-interception in East Jakarta where two passengers were found transporting over one kilogram of the drug hidden in a gift bag. These cases underscore the persistent challenge of drug trafficking across Indonesia’s transit hubs and residential areas.

BNN emphasized that this public destruction serves as a testament to the agency’s transparency and accountability in law enforcement. Beyond the physical removal of drugs, the agency views these operations as a vital part of its Integrated Strategy for the Prevention and Eradication of Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking (P4GN).

By disrupting these supply chains, the agency aims to protect the nation’s youth from the moral and social decay caused by synthetic drug addiction.

To ensure the effectiveness of this "War on Drugs," BNN continues to urge public participation. Citizens are encouraged to monitor their local communities and report any suspicious activities through the national Call Center 184. Through such collective vigilance, Indonesia aims to achieve its vision of a "Drug-Free Indonesia" (Indonesia Bersinar).
