RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia’s Ministry of Creative Economy has officially appointed 64 Intellectual Property (IP) valuators to strengthen the country’s creative industry financing ecosystem and formalize IP valuation practices.

Creative Economy Minister Teuku Riefky Harsya inaugurated the appointment in Jakarta on Wednesday, February 18, 2026.

Minister Riefky emphasized that intellectual property plays a strategic role in today’s idea-driven economy. “In an era shaped by ideas and innovation, intellectual property is no longer merely a legal document. It is a valuable asset that represents the future of the national creative industry,” he said, as quoted by Antara.

The appointment is based on Government Regulation No. 24/2022, a derivative of the Creative Economy Law, as well as Ministerial Regulation No. 6/2025 on Intellectual Property Valuators. The regulatory framework establishes IP valuation services as a recognized financing instrument.

Ministry Riefky noted that the 64 appointees are the first officially inaugurated IP valuators in Indonesia. The move is intended to address longstanding financing challenges faced by creative economy players, whose industries are experiencing renewed growth domestically and internationally.

He described IP valuators as a “bridge of trust” between innovators, creators, and financial institutions. The valuators operate independently and are supported by members of the Indonesian Appraisal Professional Association (MAPPI), under the supervision of the Ministry of Finance, with expertise spanning legal, technical, and economic fields.

IP valuators will assess intangible creative assets, enabling asset owners to use them as a basis for credit valuation and loan applications. Creative industry players may also be required to attach Intellectual Property Rights certificates issued by the Ministry of Law to strengthen their financing proposals to banks.

With broader banking support and improved access to financing, Indonesia’s IP market is expected to expand from local to national and global levels, the minister said.

“We believe creativity is an asset, innovation is a guarantee, and Indonesia’s economic future built on the nation’s intellectual property will soon be realized,” Minister Riefky said.

The ministry targets the inauguration of hundreds more advanced IP valuators this year and next to further strengthen the creative economy ecosystem. ***
