RRI.CO.ID, Bogor – The Indonesian government is partnering with an association in Indonesia to foster more entrepreneurs. This collaboration aims to strengthen the national economy so it can compete on the global stage.

The Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) has officially partnered with the Entrepreneurship Development Association (PEWIRA), according to a written press release issued by the ministry on Tuesday, July 28, 2026. This partnership aims to reach the target of a 4 percent national entrepreneurship ratio by 2029.

This initiative was launched following the inauguration of PEWIRA’s executive board in Bogor, West Java, on Monday, July 27, 2026. The event marked the start of a major collaboration between the government, universities, and the business community.

The government welcomed the establishment of this professional organization to support entrepreneurs across all regions. Deputy for Entrepreneurship at the Ministry of MSMEs, Riza Damanik, stated, "The Ministry of MSMEs welcomes PEWIRA as part of our efforts to encourage more of Indonesia’s younger generation to become outstanding entrepreneurs in the future."

This partnership also focuses on enhancing the capabilities of business mentors at the regional level. Specialized training is being provided so mentors can manage business incubation centers professionally.

Currently, approximately 505 functional officials dedicated to entrepreneurship development are spread across Indonesia. To expand its reach, PEWIRA plans to establish chapters in every province.

"We share a common goal of achieving a national entrepreneurship rate of 4 percent by 2029. That is our top priority," PEWIRA Chairman Wientor Rah Mada noted.
