RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - President Prabowo Subianto convened several key economic ministers at his private residence in Hambalang, Bogor, West Java, on Sunday afternoon, February 15, 2026, to outline Indonesia’s strategic direction ahead of upcoming economic negotiations with the United States.
Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya said the meeting focused on two priorities. First, ensuring that Indonesia’s position in any economic negotiation delivers maximum benefit to national interests. The immediate focus, he noted, is preparing for talks with the United States in the near future.
“Particularly with the United States, the goal is to secure the best and most advantageous outcomes for Indonesia,” Teddy explained. He added that the President expects negotiations to drive higher productivity in domestic industries while strengthening Indonesia’s role in global supply chains.
The second priority, Teddy continued, is to ensure that economic cooperation extends beyond short-term gains and contributes to building a stronger foundation for national industry.
“Every policy must generate tangible benefits for Indonesia,” he said, stressing that ministers are tasked with formulating swift, measurable strategies that directly support economic growth.
Among those attending the meeting were Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa, State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, and Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto.
President Prabowo is scheduled to visit the United States on February 19, 2026, to sign an Agreement on Reciprocal Trade (ART) with President Donald Trump and attend the inaugural meeting of the Board of Peace.
Airlangga Hartarto noted that details of the tariff arrangements are still being finalized. However, he confirmed that Indonesia’s export tariffs to the U.S. have already been reduced from 32 percent to 19 percent, urging the public to await the completion of the process. ***
