RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesian Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection Minister Arifah Fauzi emphasized that gender mainstreaming must serve as a key strategy to improve the quality of inclusive national development. She said it is not merely an administrative requirement but the foundation for formulating equitable policies, programs, and budgets.

“Commitment and the integration of gender considerations into development processes need to be strengthened. Equal benefits for all members of society must be ensured through policies, programs, and budgets,” Minister Arifah said in her remarks at the Advocacy for the Acceleration of Gender Mainstreaming for Ministries and Institutions Responsible for Five Development Sectors in Jakarta on Thursday, July 16, 2026.

She emphasized that all ministries and institutions are responsible for the success of gender mainstreaming according to their respective authorities. A gender perspective, she added, must be integrated into the planning, implementation, and evaluation of development so that its benefits are felt by all members of society.

Indonesia has been committed to gender mainstreaming since the issuance of Presidential Instruction No. 9/2000. This commitment is reinforced in the National Long-Term Development Plan (RPJPN) and the National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN) 2025–2029.

“If we look at various development indicators, the answer is not yet complete. We still find gaps in economic participation, leadership, access to development services, and protection from violence,” Minister Arifah said.

The Ministry of Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection, together with relevant ministries and institutions, is strengthening the implementation of gender mainstreaming through policy and governance improvements.

These efforts include enhancing human resource capacity, strengthening data, and monitoring and evaluating implementation.

“Make gender mainstreaming part of increasingly high-quality development governance. Every policy, program, and budget must provide equal benefits toward achieving Golden Indonesia 2045,” Minister Arifah said. (Misni Parjiati)
