RRI.CO.ID, Yogyakarta - Indonesia’s most iconic world heritage sites, Borobudur Temple in Magelang, Central Java and Prambanan Temples in Yogyakarta, are set to transform into vibrant stages of cultural harmony this Lunar New Year.

InJourney Destination Management (IDM), which oversees Borobudur, Prambanan, and Ratu Boko Temple Tourism Parks, is welcoming Lunar New Year 2577 Kongzili with a vibrant cultural program titled #ImlekdiCandi.

The initiative blends the grandeur of Indonesia’s historical heritage with the richness of Chinese traditions.

“This year’s Lunar New Year celebration at the temples is designed to be an inclusive and joyful holiday destination for all visitors. Embracing the spirit of the Year of the Fire Horse, we have prepared special programs at Borobudur and Prambanan,” IDM’s Commercial Director, Gistang Panutur, said in Yogyakarta on Sunday, February 15, 2026, as quoted by Antara.

He said the celebration is more than just marking the turn of the year; it is a moment of cultural exchange and harmony.

“We want every visitor, whether families or individuals, to feel the positive energy of the Year of the Horse through engaging and unforgettable experiences. We invite everyone to celebrate diversity and share their best wishes amid the magnificence of these world heritage sites,” he added.

On February 17, 2026, the festivities will feature spectacular Barongsai (lion dance) and Liong (dragon dance) performances. The Prambanan show will be presented by Paguyuban Barongsai Naga Winongo, while Borobudur will host Paguyuban Panbers Jogja.

These traditional performances, accompanied by the rhythmic beat of drums and cymbals, are believed to drive away misfortune and usher in a fresh, spirited beginning.

Another highlight is the “Wishing Wall Installation” at both Borobudur and Prambanan, where visitors can write down their hopes and prayers on cards. These cards symbolize aspirations for love, health, happiness, and prosperity, aligning with the temples’ role as places of reflection and devotion.

Visitors who purchase early bird tickets between February 5–11, 2026, will also have the chance to pick Angpao envelopes from a “tree of fortune,” adding a playful touch to the holiday spirit.

In addition, a special session with Yogyakarta-based tarot reader Christina Merabella will be offered to ten selected participants who share their Lunar New Year wishes on Instagram (@PrambananPark) between February 12–15, 2026.

The winners, chosen based on the most-liked comments, can redeem their fortune-reading session at Prambanan on February 17 at 2:00 p.m. local time.

To further enrich the celebration, IDM is offering a Sunrise and Sunset ticket promotion at Borobudur Temple, priced at IDR 350,000, available from February 14–17, 2026. The program aims to make the Lunar New Year holiday a memorable and meaningful experience for all.
