RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesian state-owned food agency Perum Bulog has confirmed that national food reserves remain secure ahead of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr 1447 H. President Director Lt. Gen. (Ret.) Ahmad Rizal Ramdhani reported that current rice reserves stand at 3.2 million tons, with distribution being maximized across all regions.

Rizal emphasized that price monitoring is being carried out intensively in cooperation with local Food Task Force (Satgas Pangan) teams. “We can assure that stocks are safe with 3.2 million tons available, and distribution continues to be optimized,” he told PRO3 RRI.

He noted that staple food prices remain stable thanks to routine market inspections held two to three times per week. “We regularly go down to the markets, which helps keep prices under control, just as we did during Christmas and New Year,” he said.

Special attention is being given to disaster-affected areas in Sumatra, following directives from the President and Minister of Agriculture. The government has tripled stock levels in these regions and mobilized logistics support from other provinces to prevent shortages.

“For disaster-hit areas, we have multiplied stock levels to avoid price hikes or supply disruptions,” Rizal explained, adding that Bulog works with the Indonesian Armed Forces (TNI) and the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) to deliver supplies when land routes are cut off.

Emergency rice reserves ranging from 15 to 50 tons have been positioned at airports and seaports to ensure accessibility even when infrastructure is damaged by floods or bridge collapses.

Bulog is also supporting the provision of premium rice for Indonesian pilgrims during the 2026 Hajj season, a policy Rizal said is important to maintain nutrition and cater to the preferences of Indonesian consumers.

Earlier, Bulog had assured that government rice reserves (CBP) would remain secure throughout major religious holidays in 2026, including Lunar New Year, Nyepi, Ramadan, and Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijri.

Bulog’s Director of Operations Andi Afdal added that anticipatory measures are in place to meet rising food demand during these periods. The agency is strengthening coordination with the National Food Agency (Bapanas), local governments, and other stakeholders to expand access to affordable food while maintaining price stability. ***
