RRI.CO.ID, Gresik - Indonesia is accelerating the transformation of its ports through the Green and Smart Port (GSP) initiative to improve logistics efficiency, sustainability, and national food security. The program reflects growing commitment among port operators to adopt environmentally friendly and digitally integrated port management.

The initiative was highlighted during the Green and Smart Port Initiatives (GSPI) ASRI 2026 program in Gresik, East Java, on Wednesday July 15, 2026. Organized by the Coordinating Ministry for Food Affairs in collaboration with IDSurvey Group, the program integrates the ASRI principles Safe, Healthy, Clean, and Beautiful as a benchmark for sustainable port management.

Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs, Zulkifli Hasan, said ports play a strategic role in ensuring the smooth distribution of food across Indonesia. He emphasized that modernizing port operations will strengthen the country’s logistics network while supporting long-term food security goals.

“Ports are strategic hubs for food distribution. The transformation toward Green and Smart Ports will improve logistics efficiency, reduce costs, and create more environmentally friendly ports. This is an important step toward strengthening Indonesia’s competitiveness and national food security,” he said.

As the state-owned strategic holding for survey services, IDSurvey has been entrusted with developing the assessment framework and conducting evaluations based on the Green and Smart Port Guidelines 3.0/2023, which align with national regulations and international best practices.

Meanwhile, IDSurvey Chief Executive Officer, Arisudono Soerono, said the increasing participation of port operators demonstrates the industry's growing commitment to sustainability. He expressed hope that the assessment program would encourage more Indonesian ports to achieve international green port standards and enhance the efficiency of the national logistics system.

“The trust placed in IDSurvey by the Coordinating Ministry for Food Affairs is a great honor. We hope this assessment encourages more Indonesian ports to become internationally recognized green ports that support efficient national logistics,” he said.

Eight ports participated in the GSPI ASRI 2026 assessment, with PT Petrokimia Gresik’s Private Port Terminal (TUKS) receiving the highest national score, followed by PT Pupuk Kalimantan Timur and PT Krakatau Bandar Samudera. The government expects the initiative to accelerate the adoption of sustainable port practices while strengthening Indonesia’s logistics infrastructure and supporting the country’s long-term food security strategy.
