RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesian National Alms Agency (Baznas RI) has set the official Zakat Fitrah rate for Ramadan 1447 Hijriah (2026 AD) at IDR 50,000 (approximately USD 2.97) per person. The amount is equivalent to 2.5 kilograms of premium rice or 3.5 liters of premium rice.
Zakat Fitrah, also known in English as the alms of fast-breaking, is a mandatory charitable donation paid by Muslims at the end of Ramadan. It is intended to ensure that the fasting is observed and that the poor can celebrate Eid al-Fitr with dignity.
The decision was formalized through the Decree of the Chairman of Baznas RI No. 14/2026.
Chairman Noor Achmad explained that the figure was determined after a comprehensive study of rice price fluctuations across Indonesia. Alongside Zakat Fitrah, Baznas also set the Fidyah rate, which is compensation for missed fasting, at IDR 65,000 per person per day.
“The zakat fitrah amount has been set at IDR 50,000 per person and the fidyah amount at IDR 65,000 per person per day, following thorough study and careful consideration,” Noor said in Jakarta on Thursday, February 5, 2026, as quoted by Antara.
The decree aims to provide a standardized reference for zakat management during the 2026 Ramadan season. Regional Baznas offices and Private Amil Zakat Institutions (LAZ) are encouraged to adopt these rates as a baseline for their respective areas.
However, recognizing Indonesia’s vast geography and varying rice prices, Baznas has allowed regional branches and LAZ to make adjustments, provided they remain consistent with Islamic Sharia and national law.
Muslims may fulfill their Zakat Fitrah obligations from the first day of Ramadan until before the Eid al-Fitr prayer. Noor emphasized that distribution to mustahik (eligible recipients) must be completed before the Eid preacher ascends the pulpit.
With the enactment of this decree, the 2025 regulations for the Greater Jakarta area (Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, and Bekasi) are officially revoked.
Baznas expects the updated policy to ensure a more orderly and transparent distribution process, delivering tangible benefits to the poor during the holy month. ***
