RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta: The Indonesian Ministry of Communication and Digital is encouraging the adoption of Agentic Artificial Intelligence (Agentic AI) technology as a strategic national instrument.

Secretary General of the Ministry, Ismail, at the Governance Agentic AI event in Central Jakarta on Wednesday, January 29, 2026, explained that utilizing Agentic AI will help create public policies that are more precise, adaptive, and data-driven in the digital age.

He believes that the government can understand people's digital lifestyles and formulate targeted policies through Agentic AI.

“Today, people's lifestyles are recorded through search engines, chat applications, social media, and marketplaces. Unfortunately, the government is unable to interpret these data sources properly,” said Ismail in his official statement in Jakarta on Thursday, January 29, 2026.

Ismail emphasized that the main issue here is not about data ownership. Instead, it is about accessibility and the government's ability to interpret aggregate patterns to serve the public interest without violating privacy and legal principles.

Ismail also highlighted the significance of Agentic AI in strengthening digital sovereignty, opening up national economic opportunities, and creating value-added jobs for Indonesia's digital talent.

“Many AI solutions require adaptation to the Indonesian context. Agentic AI provides opportunities for the nation's youth to participate in developing relevant solutions for national purposes," Ismail said.

In support of this, Ismail emphasized that the Ministry of Communication and Digital continues to undertake various initiatives to develop national AI infrastructure. This is part of the ministry's commitment to supporting multiple national strategic interests.

“Indonesia is a vast country with significant needs. AI infrastructure must be clearly directed and well-coordinated so that it does not fall behind and genuinely supports national interests,” said Ismail. (Gusti Panji/Sri Wahyuni)
