RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta: Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto has instructed his ministers to formulate an effective strategy for managing Indonesia’s natural resources. The goal is to ensure that resource management strikes a balance between the interests of the state, the business sector, and public welfare.
Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Bahlil Lahadalia, conveyed the directive following a meeting at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Wednesday, January 28, 2026. “The President has ordered us to find the right formula that serves both national interests and the welfare of the people,” Bahlil said.
He explained that the President also stressed the importance of orienting resource management toward increasing state revenue. “We need stronger national income to improve the welfare of our citizens,” he added.
Bahlil noted that the sustainability of businesses must also be taken into account. “While the focus is on boosting state revenue, the approach must also be fair to entrepreneurs,” he said.
For this reason, President Prabowo instructed his ministers to design a management framework that balances all interests. The meeting also discussed the implementation of resource management policies, particularly in the mineral and coal sectors.
In addition to Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, President Prabowo also summoned several other ministers, including Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology, Brian Yuliarto, and Minister of State Secretary, Prasetyo Hadi.
Also in attendant were Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto; Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/National Land Agency Head Nusron Wahid; Minister of Investment and Downstreaming/Investment Coordinating Board Head and CEO of Danantara Indonesia, Rosan Roeslani; and Cabinet Secretary, Teddy Indra Wijaya.
