RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Forest Area Enforcement Task Force has officially announced follow-up actions on the revocation of business permits for 28 corporations proven to have committed serious violations in forest areas in Indonesia. This firm step was taken based on the results of an in-depth investigation into administrative violations as well as alleged forestry crimes.
The spokesperson of the Task Force, Barita Simanjuntak, at a press conference on Tuesday, 27 January 2026, stated that the permit revocations target 28 corporate legal entities, most of which operate in the provinces of Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra. The revocations are based on strong facts and evidence of administrative violations and criminal acts.
“There are 22 corporate legal entities whose business permits were revoked in accordance with regulations by the Ministry of Forestry; then there are 2 corporate legal entities by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources; then there are 3 legal entities whose business permit revocations were followed up by the Ministry of Agriculture; and there is 1 legal entity due to its local scope by the provincial government of Aceh,” Barita said.
Following the revocation of permits, Barita explained that the land previously controlled by these corporations will be taken back by the state under the authority of the Forest Area Enforcement Task Force. To ensure that operations and investments are not disrupted in a destructive manner, the government has appointed the Ministry of Investment and Downstreaming / Investment Coordinating Board together with the Danantara Investment Management Agency to coordinate settlement measures.
“With regard to the 28 corporate legal entities in question, after the revocation of permits, of course the process is that the land previously controlled by these corporations will be reclaimed by the Forest Area Enforcement Task Force, as this falls under the authority of Satgas PKH based on Presidential Regulation Number 5 of 2025,” he said.
He further mentioned that,”Then, yesterday’s meeting also conveyed that subsequently the management of the 28 legal entities whose permits have been revoked will be coordinated by the Ministry of Investment and Downstreaming, the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM), together with the Daya Anagata Nusantara Investment Management Agency (Danantara) to take steps deemed necessary to determine a way forward.”
In addition to administrative sanctions in the form of permit revocations, Forest Area Enforcement Task Force, emphasized that criminal legal proceedings will continue. Currently, the Criminal Investigation Agency of the Indonesian National Police has named suspects in several corporations, and investigations by the North Sumatra High Prosecutor’s Office are also ongoing.
