RRI.CO.ID, Salatiga - Indonesia’s Vice President, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, discussed the government’s work during a talk show at the university auditorium on Monday, 26 January 2026. It was attended by hundreds of students of Satya Wacana Christian University in Salatiga, Central Java.
One of the key points he raised concerned progress in the country's new capital city of Nusantara. “I went there last December, and two weeks later, the President (Prabowo Subianto) also visited. The progress is quite good and in line with the timeline," he said, reaffirming his position as the president's helper for all government programs.
Gibran again said that government civil servants would move from Jakarta to Nusantara starting this year. This would include the Vice Presidential Secretariat, where his staff works.
"We have instructed the staff of the Vice Presidential Secretariat to begin a gradual relocation to Nusantara, because I see that the office buildings are also nearing completion," he said, as monitored from the secretariat's social media.

"And if I’m not mistaken, this year the Ministry of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform plans to move about 4,000 civil servants there as well. So, this will all be done gradually until 2028, and perhaps by 2029, all will be effectively working there," he said.
Rector of Satya Wacana Christian University, Intiyas Utami, also spoke out in the talk show. She hoped that the central government would open up access and knowledge about Nusantara to university students, so that they could see it firsthand.
"Even research studies, if permitted, (I proposed that the city) could be given space so that our researchers can contribute there," she said.

At the event, Gibran said he had asked for the acceleration of construction of the legislative and judicial complexes, which he said are targeted for completion in 2028. He also requested that the State Mosque of Nusantara be able to operate regularly during Ramadan, the Islamic fasting month, which this year begins in mid-February.
Gibran had previously visited the eastern Kalimantan city in December, when he checked various construction projects. He said he spent the night at a civil servant's flat and an official residence during his visit.
Satya Wacana Christian University is a private Christian university in the Muslim-majority city of Salatiga, approximately 60 kilometres from the provincial capital of Semarang. While more than 70 percent of its people are Muslim, it has a fairly large Christian population of about 20 percent.
