RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The head of the Indonesian Communications Agency (Bakom RI), M. Qodari, said the government has recorded significant economic value from the Ministry of Tourism’s agenda.
“As of June 15, 2026, 38 events have been held, attracting 1.19 million visitors, generating an economic impact of IDR 86.05 billion (USD 4.83 million), involving 4,670 MSME operators, and benefiting 30,873 workers, artists, and communities,” Qodari said during a press conference for the Quick Best Results Program (PHTC) in Jakarta on Wednesday, June 17, 2026.
The government, through the Ministry of Tourism, continues to support initiatives under the Karisma Event Nusantara (KEN) program. This strategic effort aims to drive growth in the national tourism industry while strengthening local economies.
In 2025, the flagship program successfully organized 98 regional festivals, attracting 10.80 million visitors. These events generated an economic turnover of IDR 17.01 trillion and actively involved 15,400 MSME operators.
Tourism activities also improved the welfare of 219,100 workers and artists, while several local communities received direct benefits from the festivals.
To sustain this momentum, the government has set a target of hosting 125 events across 38 provinces in 2026. The national tourism sector has consistently performed well and is considered resilient, reinforcing its role as a key driver of the economy.
Tourism serves not only as a major source of foreign exchange but also as an inclusive instrument of national development. Qodari emphasized its strategic value for the wider public, noting that tourism is listed among the administration’s development priorities.
“Tourism is one of the pillars that directly impacts people’s lives, creates jobs, drives rural economies, and strengthens cultural identity. That is why this sector is explicitly listed in President Prabowo Subianto’s Asta Cita,” Qodari said.
This strategic agenda aligns with the sixth pillar of Asta Cita. It is expected that tourism villages will become the backbone of a community-based economy. (Gusti Panji)
