Vice President Ensures Maximum Aid and Search and Rescue Operations for Landslide

RRI.CO.ID, Bandung - Vice President Gibran Rakabuming visited the flash flood and landslide-affected area in Pasirlangu Village, Cisarua District, West Bandung Regency, on Sunday, January 25, 2026. The visit was made to ensure that the disaster response process is fast, integrated, and meets the needs of the community on the ground.
During his visit, the Vice President emphasized the need for maximum search and rescue efforts for victims and the fulfillment of basic needs for affected residents. His visit is part of President Prabowo Subianto's directive for the government to be present quickly among communities affected by the disaster, prioritize the safety of residents, and accelerate the recovery of affected areas.
Furthermore, Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka instructed his staff to prioritize children, pregnant women, and the elderly in the distribution of logistical assistance and healthcare services. "I entrust the residents in this evacuation center, especially children, pregnant women, the elderly, and people with disabilities, to be prioritized. Ensure that three meals a day and medication are available. The health team must be on standby 24 hours a day," he said.

Besides, Gibran also instructed local governments to ensure that assistance is targeted, including addressing damaged homes and plans for relocation and housing repairs, while ensuring that the new locations are not too far from the residents' livelihoods."Damaged houses will be repaired. If relocation is necessary, please communicate it clearly and not too far from the residents' place of origin and source of livelihood," the Vice President stated.
Meanwhile, the Head of the National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas), Mohammad Syafii, stated that the search and rescue operation was coordinated directly by Basarnas, involving hundreds of combined personnel and supported by air and ground assets. "Currently, more than 250 trained personnel are directly involved in the SAR operation, supported by air elements with drones and ground elements. The operation is being carried out methodically for the safety of the entire team," the Head of Basarnas said.
The flash floods accompanied by landslides in West Bandung Regency, West Java Province, have been hit by landslides since early Saturday, 24 January 2026, due to heavy rainfall. The landslide event in Cisarua District caused dozens of residents' homes to be buried by landslide debris and mudflow, resulting in severe damage to settlements around the affected location
According to West Java Regional Disaster Management Agency records, 400 residents have been evacuated by a joint team of officers, while as of Sunday afternoon, nine people have been reported dead and 81 others are still missing.
