RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia’s Ministry of Culture has opened a major cultural exhibition highlighting the heritage of the Minangkabau people at the National Museum in Jakarta. The exhibition, titled “Adaik Suluah Nagari,” is part of the government’s national cultural promotion program.

Organized by the Ministry of Culture through its Museum and Cultural Heritage Directorate, the exhibition was inaugurated Thursday, 22 January 2026. The initiative underscores Indonesia’s commitment to preserving and promoting indigenous traditions.

The opening ceremony was led by Indonesia’s Minister of Culture, Fadli Zon, who described the exhibition as more than a ceremonial display. He said it serves as a platform to celebrate the diversity and resilience of Indonesia’s cultural identities.

The exhibition presents a wide collection of Minangkabau cultural artifacts, including traditional costumes, jewelry, ancient manuscripts, paintings, and architectural miniatures. These items reflect the values, social structure, and everyday life of Minangkabau society.

Curators emphasize the central role of tradition, or customary law, in shaping Minangkabau community life across generations. The exhibition illustrates how local wisdom continues to guide leadership and social cohesion.

Minister Fadli Zon also called for improvements in museum management nationwide. He encouraged regional museums to adopt the National Museum as a benchmark for exhibition quality, conservation, and storytelling.

Designed with a thematic and educational approach, Adaik Suluah Nagari aims to reach younger audiences and international visitors. The Ministry of Culture sees the exhibition as a bridge between tradition and contemporary cultural engagement.

The Ministry hopes the exhibition will inspire similar cultural showcases from other regions of Indonesia. Officials say such initiatives strengthen Indonesia’s cultural presence and narrative on the global stage.
