RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – Indonesia’s Minister of Defense, Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, led the 2026 Leadership Meeting of the Ministry of Defense and the Indonesian Military (TNI). It was held via video conference at the Ministry of Defense, Jakarta, Monday, 19 January 2026.

The 2026 Leadership Meeting carried the theme "Development of the National Defense System to Safeguard and Control the Sovereignty of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia." The event served as a strategic forum to align defense policies, strategies, and the 2026 Fiscal Year budget.

The Minister of Defense in his remarks affirmed that the implementation of national defense is based on the mandate of the Preamble to the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia, specifically the state's obligation to protect the entire nation and all of Indonesia's territory.

Minister Sjafrie underscored that the total people's defense and security system is a unified force that also represents the unity of the TNI and the people in national defense efforts.

Furthermore, in his presentation on defense policy, strategy, and budget for Fiscal Year 2026, he conveyed the active defensive defense strategy, the national defense implementation policy for 2025-2029, the centralization policy, and the direction of national defense policy.

Moreover, Minister of Defense also expressed his appreciation and gratitude to all leaders and staff of the Ministry of Defense and the Indonesian Military (TNI) for their solid cooperation throughout 2025. The Minister affirmed, "Trust in the TNI is crucial, because the TNI can only optimally carry out its role in protecting and safeguarding the nation if all elements are intact, solid, and always united with the people."

In addition, the Minister of Defense invited all ranks to face the various challenges ahead with optimism and full confidence. He said every task undertaken, whatever its form, should be based on sincere intentions, strong interests, and a spirit of nationalism and patriotism. (Ahmad Faisal)
