Indonesia Appoints Senior Cultural Figures as Ministerial Advisors

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesia's Minister of Culture, Fadli Zon, has appointed a number of senior national figures in history and culture as Ministerial Advisors. The appointments were formalized through the handover of official decrees at the Ministry of Culture in Jakarta, Monday, 19 January 2026.
The move is aimed at strengthening the strategic direction of cultural policies and programs at the ministry. The advisors are expected to provide guidance based on their academic authority and long-standing experience in their respective fields.
Among those appointed are Singgih Tri Sulistiyono as Advisor for Historical Preservation and Maritime Cultural Development. Other appointees include Taufik Ismail for the Strengthening and Development of Indonesian Literature.
Putu Supadma Rudana was named Advisor for Strategic Development and Optimization of Museum Management. Batara Richard Hutagalung was appointed Advisor for Strengthening National Historical Literacy.
Fadli Zon stated that the establishment of the Ministerial Advisor positions is essential to ensure cultural policies are grounded in scholarly depth and national values. He emphasized that advisors play a crucial role in shaping well-informed and sustainable cultural strategies.
One of the key focus areas highlighted by the minister is the preparation of national history books. The initiative aims to present strong and comprehensive historical narratives that are relevant for younger generations.
The ministry is targeting the publication of several major historical works, including accounts of the War of Independence from 1945 to 1950. Histories of major Nusantara kingdoms such as Majapahit, Sriwijaya, and Samudera Pasai are also being prepared.
