RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – The Indonesian government plans to establish a state-owned enterprise (SOE) specifically in the textile sector. Minister of State Secretariat, Prasetyo Hadi delivered the plan in a press statement at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta, Monday, 19 January 2026.

In his statement, Prasetyo affirmed that the establishment and strengthening of SOE in the textile sector is not a new initiative. At present, there is already one SOE that has been specifically tasked with focusing on handling issues in the national garment and textile industry, particularly those related to the case affecting PT Sri Rejeki Isman Tbk (Sritex).

“Actually, this is not something new, because under Danantara, we now have one SOE that has indeed been asked to focus on handling garment issues, then textile issues, especially those related to the recent incident involving PT Sritex,” Prasetyo stated.

He further added that the formation of a new SOE in the textile sector is still in process and is expected to be completed in the near future. Hadi expressed hope that this SOE would be able to save thousands of Sritex employees and make a significant contribution to the national economy.

“We hope that in the near future all processes can be completed so that PT Sritex, one way or another, must be saved in the sense that its economic activities must continue. It is because it employs approximately 10,000 workers and generates substantial economic activity from clothing and uniform products, both to meet domestic needs and for export to various countries,” he conveyed.
