RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – Leaders of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR), Indonesia's national parliament, discussed its upcoming annual session and its drafted Basic Principles of State Policy (PPHN) with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto. As they visited Prabowo at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Monday, August 3, 2026, they also discussed this year's Constitution Day, commemorating the enactment of the nation's 1945 Constitution, as well as the MPR's anniversary.

"President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, just received the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR). The discussions and talks were quite intense, relaxed, and substantive," Spokesperson of the MPR Ahmad Muzani said in a press statement following the meeting.

"Our visit to meet the President was, first and foremost, part of a national gathering and consultation among leaders of state institutions," he continued, as quoted from the country's Presidential Secretariat.

On that occasion, Ahmad conveyed that the assembly officially invited Prabowo to attend the 2026 Annual Session, planned to take place on Friday, August 14, 2026. At the session, the President is scheduled to deliver an annual report on the work of state institutions to the MPR, comprising the lower House of Representatives (DPR) and the upper Regional Representatives Council (DPD).

Furthermore, Ahmad said the assembly also invited the president to attend the commemoration of Constitution Day and the MPR Anniversary, centered on Saturday, August 29, 2026. He said the two moments will be commemorated simultaneously.

During the meeting, the MPR leaders also submitted a draft of the PPHN to Prabowo. Ahmad, of Prabowo-led Gerindra Party, said that the draft has now been submitted to Prabowo for further discussion to refine the substance.

The PPHN is Indonesia's upcoming long-term development guidance that applies across various government periods. Its span is expected to be longer than the already existing 20-year National Long-Term Development Plan (RPJPN), which currently applies from 2025 to 2045.
