KBRN, Jakarta: The Indonesian Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) has unveiled a strategic framework to accelerate economic recovery in flood-affected regions of Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra.

MSMEs Minister Maman Abdurrahman stressed that rebuilding the economy in these areas requires an integrated approach that simultaneously addresses both production and market demand.

On the supply side, the government is rolling out financial rescue schemes for business owners whose assets and operations were damaged. These measures include loan restructuring and relaxation, ranging from payment deferrals to full debt forgiveness for enterprises in the most critical condition.

In addition, a “top-up” working capital program will be introduced, offering zero percent interest in the first year and a subsidized rate of 2–3 percent in the second year to ensure long-term sustainability.

For ultra-micro entrepreneurs without access to formal banking, Minister Maman has proposed a Presidential Grant for Micro-Business Rehabilitation to help restart operations and restore local purchasing power.

To stimulate demand, the Ministry plans to consolidate national e-commerce platforms into a unified digital ecosystem that will serve as both a marketplace and a donation hub.

This initiative will enable Indonesians to support disaster-affected communities directly by purchasing their products. “People can help not only through donations, but also by buying goods from our brothers and sisters in the affected areas,” Minister Maman said, describing the effort as a long-term form of gotong royong (mutual cooperation).

The Ministry will continue comprehensive mapping and data collection of affected businesses through March 2026 to ensure aid is distributed effectively.

Meanwhile, Home Affairs Minister Tito Karnavian has instructed a high-level economic and food task force, comprising the Ministers of Agriculture, Industry, Trade, Creative Economy, and others, to act swiftly in reviving regional commodities.

He emphasized that restoring flagship products such as coffee and chili is critical to preventing price spikes and safeguarding consumer purchasing power. Minister Tito warned that delays in repairing production and distribution chains could trigger inflation in disaster-hit regions. (Naura Sofia/Lasti Martina)
