RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Rescue teams in Nusa Penida evacuated the body of Australian national Cronin Brianna Lani (30), who died after falling from the cliff at Kelingking Beach, Bunga Mekar Village, on Saturday morning, September 12, 2026.
Coordinator of the Nusa Penida SAR unit, Cakra Negara, said that field reports indicated the victim slipped around 9:00 a.m. while attempting to find her own path toward the edge of the cliff.
Basarnas Bali received the emergency call at 9:50 a.m. and immediately dispatched a rescue team, coordinating with other SAR units.
Initial plans to conduct the evacuation by sea were canceled due to high waves. The operation was instead carried out manually, with rescuers navigating the steep and narrow stairway at Kelingking Beach.
“When found, the victim had multiple fractures. We prepared her on a stretcher to ease the evacuation,” Cakra explained.
The challenging terrain made the process difficult, but after 1.5 hours the team successfully brought the victim to the top. She was then transported by ambulance to Griya Penida Clinic.
The evacuation involved Basarnas Bali, the Indonesian Navy post in Nusa Penida, local police, Balawista lifeguards, village authorities, medical staff, and community members. ***
