RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Bali police have reminded both domestic and international visitors to respect local laws, customs, and social norms, following the arrest of a 27‑year‑old Australian tourist accused of public indecency in Badung.

Bali Police spokesperson Sr. Com. Ariasandy said that the man, identified by initials BA, was detained after investigators traced him from a viral video showing indecent conduct outside a local residence in Tibubeneng.

“Swift action by our team ensured the suspect was secured before leaving the country,” Ariasandy told reporters on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, as quoted by Antara.

BA was intercepted at Ngurah Rai International Airport as he prepared to fly back to Australia. The arrest was carried out by Badung Police’s Criminal Investigation Unit in coordination with immigration authorities. During initial questioning, BA admitted to the act.

The incident reportedly began after BA met a woman at a beach club in Canggu. Both left intoxicated and were later seen engaging in indecent behavior in front of a family home, drawing the attention of residents. The homeowner alerted neighbors, and the video quickly spread across social media.

Authorities charged BA under Articles 406 and 407 of Indonesia’s new Criminal Code, covering public indecency offenses. He remains in custody at Badung Police headquarters while immigration officials review his visa status.

Police emphasized that Bali will not tolerate behavior that disturbs public order. “We urge all visitors, domestic and international, to respect local laws, customs, and traditions,” Ariasandy said. ***
