RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia and Argentina celebrated the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations this year. The celebration was carried out alongside the reception of Argentina's 210th anniversary of independence in Jakarta, Monday, July 6, 2026.

In welcoming remarks, the Ambassador of the Republic of Argentina to Indonesia Gustavo Ricardo Coppa, highlighted the partnership of both nations. He said the cultures bring the people of Indonesia and Argentina closer.

Apart from the people-to-people relations, ambassador Coppa, said his country highly values Indonesia's leadership in Southeast Asia. He added that the partnership has grown through both dialogue and economic ties, including new opportunities in food security, energy, and innovation.

According to him, so far, Argentina and Indonesia also have cooperation in trade, investment, technology, and culture. He, then, wished for a stronger relations that is based on dialogue, mutual respect, and shared vision for the future.

"As we celebrate our Independence Day, let us celebrate the friendship that unites our two nations," Ambassador Gustavo Coppa said.

Meanwhile, Indonesia's Minister of Tourism, Widiyanti Putri Wardhana, in her remarks mentioned that the two nations, while separated by distance, still share commmon values and aspirations. "Indonesia and Argentina are countries blessed with extraordinary cultural diversity, rich natural resources, and resilient people," she said.

Minister Widiyanti further elaborated that the two nations share common interest in in advancing solutions that support economic growth, energy access, and environmental sustainability. This shared priorities, according to her, became a strong foundation for expanding cooperation to benefit the people of the two countries as well as the global community.

After the remarks, the guests were served with various Argentinian delicacies, such as empanadas. There were als a tango dance and musical performances.

Argentina gained their independence on 9 July 1816. While the diplomatic ties between Indonesia and Argentina was established on 30 July 1956.

The anniversary event were also joined by the Founder of Arsari Group Hashim Djoyohadikusumo, Managing Director for Global Relations and Governance at Danantara Muhammad Al-Arief, Chairman of the Indonesia-Argentina Parliamentary Friendship Group Martin Manurung. There were also ambassadors of friendly countries as well as business tycoons.
