RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia has joined forces with seven major Muslim-majority nations to issue a fierce diplomatic condemnation against Israel following targeted settler attacks on two historic mosques in the occupied West Bank district of Ramallah, Palestine.
The unified diplomatic front, comprising Indonesia, Egypt, Jordan, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), strongly denounced the continuous escalation of structural violence perpetrated by Israel against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank, drawing immediate international attention to the worsening security crisis on the ground.
According to a joint ministerial statement published on the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs' official X account on Friday morning, the coalition categorized the deliberate targeting of sacred infrastructure as a blatant breach of global legal boundaries.
“These attacks constitute a clear violation of the sanctity of places of worship and religious sites, international law, including international humanitarian law, and relevant UN resolutions,” according to the statement, as quoted by Antara.
The severe diplomatic backlash comes in the wake of a dangerous security breach on Wednesday evening, June 17, 2026. According to documentation verified by the Anadolu Agency, radical Israeli settlers raided the Grand Mosque in Jiljilya village and the Al-Farouq Mosque in Mazar’a al-Nubani village, located in northern Ramallah.
The perpetrators set fire to sections of the religious structures and defaced the walls with graffiti slogans written in Hebrew, marking a dangerous uptick in targeted incursions against Palestinian municipalities, properties, agricultural lands, and active worship spaces.
The coalition of foreign ministers explicitly stated their absolute rejection of these illegal actions, warning that the unchecked violence actively feeds regional instability, sparks extremism, and systematically derails international mediation frameworks. Under international legal definitions, the ministers firmly placed the legal and moral liability for the raids onto Israel as the occupying power.
Frustrated by historical legal gridlocks, the eight nations issued an urgent call to action to the United Nations and global superpowers, demanding an end to systemic Israeli impunity in the West Bank.
The joint statement urged the international community to fulfill its legal and moral obligations by applying strict diplomatic and economic pressure on Israel to freeze its West Bank escalations, halt illegal settlement expansions, control settler violence, and guarantee that perpetrators face transparent criminal prosecution.
The diplomatic declaration concluded by reaffirming the coalition's unyielding backing for Palestinian self-determination. The ministers collectively called for the complete termination of the Israeli occupation to establish a comprehensive, sustainable peace through a two-state solution.
This framework aligns strictly with international law, relevant UN resolutions, and the historical Arab Peace Initiative, advocating for an independent and sovereign Palestinian state based on the pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem established as its rightful capital. ***
