RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - As the Hajj season approaches, assurances and prayers have been extended to Indonesian pilgrims by Saudi Arabia’s ambassador in Jakarta and the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI).

Saudi Ambassador Faisal Abdullah Al Amoudi and MUI Chairman KH Anwar Iskandar hope that Indonesian pilgrims, scheduled to depart on April 22, 2026, will be able to perform the pilgrimage safely and peacefully in the Holy Land.

Meeting at the ambassador’s residence in Jakarta on Thursday evening, April 16, 2026, the two discussed Hajj preparations and developments in the Middle East. “We pray that Indonesian pilgrims can carry out the Hajj safely and comfortably, and receive the blessings they seek,” Faisal said, adding that Saudi Arabia has ensured this year’s pilgrimage will proceed according to plan. “Once again, we affirm that the Hajj this year will run smoothly. There are no problems,” he emphasized.

Anwar expressed gratitude for the respect and service Saudi Arabia has consistently extended to Indonesian pilgrims. “We thank Saudi Arabia because every year Indonesian pilgrims receive the best service,” he said, while urging Indonesians to help preserve the sanctity of the Holy Land.

Also present was Marwan Dasopang, Speaker of Commission VIII of Indonesia’s House of Representatives, who noted an additional cost of around IDR 8 million (approx. USD 465.50) per pilgrim.

He explained, however, that President Prabowo Subianto decided the increase would not be passed on to pilgrims. “That is why we call on all parties to end the wars,” Marwan added, referring to Middle East conflicts that have driven up global oil prices.

Marwan further expressed confidence that Saudi leaders, including King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, will safeguard the security of the pilgrimage. ***
