RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Three Indonesian crew members who survived the explosion on the MV Gold Autumn have been confirmed safe and will soon be repatriated to Indonesia.

“The Indonesian representative confirmed that the three Indonesian citizens have received flight tickets back to Indonesia provided by the ship’s agent. They are scheduled to return on April 12, 2026,” said Acting Director of Protection of Indonesian Citizens (PWNI) at the Foreign Ministry, Heni Hamidah, in Jakarta on Saturday, April 11, 2026, as quoted by Antara.

She explained that the Indonesian representative quickly coordinated with local authorities in Karachi, where the crew members are currently located.

The incident occurred on April 7 in the Arabian Sea when the Panamanian-flagged merchant vessel MV Gold Autumn, operated by a Chinese company, experienced an explosion. The cause is still under investigation. The ship carried 22 crew members from China, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Vietnam, and Indonesia.

In the emergency, the captain ordered an immediate evacuation. The crew was adrift at sea before being rescued by the passing vessel MV Yunis. The rescue continued after MV Yunis contacted the Pakistani Navy, which safely evacuated all victims.

The Indonesian government expressed appreciation to Pakistani authorities for their swift response in the rescue and humanitarian operations.

The Consulate General of Indonesia in Karachi reported that the MV Gold Autumn was sailing from Shanghai to Oman when the explosion occurred about 200 nautical miles (370 kilometers) off the coast of Pakistan. The blast caused significant damage to the vessel and disrupted its operational systems.

The Foreign Ministry and Indonesian representatives in Pakistan continue to monitor the situation and ensure maximum protection for the three crew members.

The government reiterated the importance of preparedness for Indonesian workers in the international shipping sector. The Foreign Ministry urged all Indonesian citizens abroad to maintain communication with the nearest Indonesian representative, especially in emergencies. ***
