RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesian Military (TNI) has expressed its deepest condolences following the death of a soldier during a peacekeeping mission in Southern Lebanon. This tragic incident occurred on Sunday, 29 March 2026, due to a sharp escalation in security within the UNIFIL operational area.

In an official statement received by RRI VOI from TNI Information Center on Monday, March 30, 2026, the soldier who died in the line of duty has been identified as Chief Private Farizal Rhomadhon from Company C UNP 7-1, Mechanized Battalion Task Force XXIII-S. In addition to the loss of life, three other soldiers were reported injured during the engagement.

Chief Private Rico Pramudia is currently reported to be in critical condition and requires intensive medical treatment. Meanwhile, Chief Private Bayu Prakoso and Chief Private Arif Kurniawan sustained minor injuries and have been treated by field medical teams.

The two soldiers with minor injuries are currently undergoing observation at the UNIFIL Level I Hospital. Conversely, the critically injured soldier has been evacuated by helicopter to St. George Hospital in Beirut for advanced medical intervention.

Farizal Rhomadhon is currently being held with full honors at the East Sector Headquarters (HQ). The TNI, in coordination with the Indonesian Embassy in Beirut, is working swiftly to complete administrative procedures to ensure the smooth repatriation of the body to Indonesia.

To date, UNIFIL is conducting an in-depth investigation to determine the origin of the artillery fire that triggered the fatal incident. As a precautionary measure, the TNI has heightened the vigilance of all personnel in accordance with established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

The TNI reaffirms its commitment to fulfilling the UN peacekeeping mandate professionally, despite the increasing risks in the deployment area. Contingency measures continue to be prepared to ensure the safety of all soldiers currently serving in Lebanon.
