President Prabowo Calls Palestine's Mahmoud Abbas and Other Muslim Leaders

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesian President, Prabowo Subianto, spoke by phone with leaders of Muslim countries, including Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, to convey his Eid al-Fitr greetings. As quoted by the country's Presidential Secretariat on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, the communication was part of an effort to strengthen bilateral relations between Indonesia and friendly countries, including Palestine.
"President Prabowo Subianto continued his communication by extending his Eid al-Fitr greetings via telephone with Muslim leaders from friendly countries, including Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas," Cabinet Secretary, Teddy Indra Wijaya, conveyed in a written statement on Monday, March 23, 2026.
In addition to the Palestinian President, President Prabowo also held similar communications with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, United Arab Emirates President Mohammed bin Zayed Al-Nahyan, and Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim. Previously, he also extended Eid al-Fitr greetings by phone to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Jordanian King Abdullah II, and Saudi Arabian Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman.
"This gathering is a prayer and a good hope for maintaining closeness, support, and strengthening cooperation between countries, especially during this meaningful Eid," Teddy said.
President Prabowo used the Eid momentum to affirm the values of humanity, solidarity, and brotherhood among nations. In this context, his communication with President Abbas also symbolized Indonesia's "consistent, unwavering support" for the Palestinian people.
Since its independence, Indonesia has considered Palestine a close friend with strong historical and emotional ties. In various international forums, Indonesia has stood at the forefront of efforts to promote a just and dignified peace for Palestine.
"Through this warm communication, Indonesia reaffirmed its commitment to continue supporting the Palestinian people's struggle, strengthening bilateral cooperation, and promoting peace and stability in the region," the Presidential Secretariat stated.
