RRI.CO.ID, New York — United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres reiterated that the conflict in the Middle East must be brought to an immediate end and replaced with diplomatic efforts.
In his statement on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, Guterres stressed the importance of prioritizing diplomacy to ease rising tensions in the region. He also called for all United Nations Security Council resolutions to be fully implemented by all parties involved in the conflict.
“All Security Council resolutions must be implemented,” he said.
According to him, the latest resolution, Resolution 2817, must be respected, especially as countries in the Gulf region continue to be targeted.
Guterres said that compliance with international resolutions is a crucial step to maintain stability and prevent further escalation of the conflict in the Middle East.
