RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - A gesture of solidarity marked the approach of Ramadan 1447 H/2026, as the United Arab Emirates (UAE) delivered 30 tons of premium dates to Indonesia, symbolizing the enduring friendship and brotherhood between the two nations.

Indonesian Minister of Religious Affairs Nasaruddin Umar expressed deep appreciation for the UAE’s continued support, particularly for Muslims observing the holy month of Ramadan.

“This gift is more than dates; it is a symbol of warm fraternity between Indonesia and the UAE. Our ties are built on humanity, solidarity, and tolerance,” he said in a ministry statement on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, as quoted by Antara.

The dates will be distributed to those in need, especially mustahik (eligible recipients of zakat), through the Ministry of Religious Affairs and partner networks to ensure broad benefit during Ramadan.

“Ramadan is a month of sharing. May this gift bring blessings and strengthen the friendship between our two peoples,” Minister Nasaruddin added.

UAE Ambassador to Indonesia Abdulla Salem Obaid Al Dhaheri emphasized that the donation reflects his government’s sincere solidarity with the Indonesian people.

“These 30 tons of premium dates are offered freely through the Emirates International Aid Agency as an expression of goodwill and fraternity during the blessed month of Ramadan,” he said.

He noted that Ramadan embodies compassion, solidarity, and generosity; values deeply rooted in both Emirati and Indonesian societies. The initiative, he added, aligns with the UAE’s long-term humanitarian approach under the leadership of President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

“This Ramadan gift reflects the depth of our brotherhood and our shared commitment to promoting tolerance and coexistence,” Al Dhaheri said.

The shipment arrived in Indonesia on February 23, 2026, via Soekarno-Hatta Cargo Terminal, where it underwent inspection to ensure readiness for distribution. ***
