RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – Eight Muslim-majority countries, including Indonesia and Saudi Arabia, have condemned Israel’s decision to designate parts of the occupied West Bank as “state land,” calling it a violation of international law.

In a statement posted by Indonesia’s Foreign Ministry on X on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, the eight countries: Indonesia, Egypt, Jordan, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Türkiye, and the United Arab Emirates, also denounced Israel’s approval of land registration and settlement procedures in the occupied West Bank for the first time since 1967.

The foreign ministers described the move as an illegal step and a serious escalation aimed at accelerating illegal settlement activities, seizing land, and reinforcing Israel’s unilateral and illegal sovereignty over Palestinian territory.

They said the decision constitutes a flagrant breach of international law, particularly the Fourth Geneva Convention and United Nations Security Council Resolution 2334.

The ministers stressed that the policy contradicts the Advisory Opinion of the International Court of Justice (ICJ).

Previous ICJ rulings have underscored the illegality of measures that alter the legal, historical, and demographic status of Palestinian territory and reaffirmed the prohibition on acquiring territory by force.

They warned that Israel’s actions impose new legal and administrative realities intended to consolidate control over occupied land. Such measures, they said, undermine the Two-State Solution, erode prospects for an independent Palestinian state, and threaten regional peace.

The ministers also urged the international community to take firm steps to halt the violations, safeguard the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination, and realize an independent Palestinian state based on the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital. ***
