Indonesian Air Force Receives Courtesy Call from CAF-PAF

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Air Force, Air Chief Marshal M. Tonny Harjono, received a courtesy call from the Chief of Air Staff of the Pakistan Air Force (CAS PAF), Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babar Sidhu at Air Force Headquarters, East Jakarta on Monday, 9 February 2026. The meeting between the two top air force leaders underscored the strengthening of Indonesia-Pakistan air defense.

The visit provided an opportunity for both leaders to exchange views on regional security dynamics. They also explored broader avenues for air defense collaboration.

During the discussions, the two sides addressed the increasingly complex strategic environment and evolving air defense challenges. Both emphasized the importance of maintaining operational readiness.

Key topics included air force transformation and modernization, human resource development, modern warfare concepts, and strengthening the defense industry. These areas are considered essential for enhancing long-term defense capabilities.

In an official statement received by RRI Voice of Indonesia on Wednesday night, 11 February 2026, Air Chief Marshal M. Tonny Harjono reaffirmed the longstanding historical ties between Indonesia and Pakistan. He noted that relations between the two countries date back to 1947 and remain strong.

Meanwhile, the Chief of Air Staff of the PAF invited an Indonesian Air Force delegation to conduct a reciprocal visit to Pakistan. The visit aims to observe educational and research facilities as well as defense industry capabilities.

As a symbol of honour and friendship, the Indonesian Air Force Chief of Staff conferred the Honorary Aviation Wing Class I upon his Pakistani counterpart. The gesture highlighted mutual respect and strategic partnership.

The meeting is expected to further reinforce cooperation between the Indonesian Air Force and the Pakistan Air Force. It is also seen as contributing to Indonesia’s national air defense capabilities and regional security stability.
