RRI.CO.ID, Hyderabad – Indonesia, through Minister of Manpower Yassierli, proposed that BRICS countries jointly strengthen the mapping of future workforce skill needs. This step is considered important as a basis for formulating labor and training policies that are more adaptive to changes in the world of work.
Yassierli presented this proposal at the 2026 BRICS Labor and Employment Ministers’ Meeting (LEMM) in Hyderabad, India, on Wednesday, July 15, 2026. During the forum, he proposed that future skills forecasting become a key focus of cooperation within BRICS CONNECT.
“Within BRICS CONNECT, Indonesia recognizes the importance of strengthening a shared understanding of future labor market needs and skills. Therefore, Indonesia proposes that future skills forecasting become a key focus of cooperation within BRICS CONNECT,” Yassierli stated, as quoted in a ministry press release.
In addition to presenting these proposals, the Minister of Manpower also outlined Indonesia’s experience in strengthening the resilience of the labor market. These efforts include expanding access to training and social security for informal workers, establishing a Layoff Task Force, strengthening the Job Loss Insurance Program (JKP), and expanding employment opportunities for women, people with disabilities, and communities in remote areas.
As a concrete step, he also noted that this year the Indonesian government is building vocational training centers and employment service centers for people with disabilities, equipped with assistive technology. In the field of human resource development, the Indonesian government continues to strengthen the transition from education to the workforce through the National Apprenticeship Program, which targets 150,000 participants, and the National Vocational Training Program, with a target of 300,000 participants this year.
In the digital sphere, the government continues to strengthen an integrated labor market information system that connects job seekers and employers through a single employment services platform. The system is supported by labor market analysis and a policy dashboard to facilitate faster and more accurate policy-making.
The Minister of Manpower stated that this inter-country meeting presents a great opportunity for mutual cooperation. He also emphasized the importance of international collaboration for shared progress.
“Indonesia views BRICS as a strategic platform to strengthen South-South cooperation, learn from one another, and deliver tangible solutions that benefit workers, the business community, and society. Therefore, Indonesia participates in BRICS to share experiences while also learning from other member countries,” he said.
