Iran, Indonesia Pursue Just & Balanced International System

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Iran and Indonesia, as well as other independent nations keep on pursuing just and balanced international system. The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Indonesia, ASEAN, and Timor Leste, Mohammad Boroujerdi, delivered the statement at the 47th Anniversary of the Victory of the Islamic Revolution of Iran in Jakarta, Tuesday, 10 February 2026.

The statement was made while the ambassador was mentioning about the independence and freedom of Iran was being challenged among many by the attack of Israel in June 2025 and the public protests. Ambassador Boroujerdi also called out the double standards in international world.

"The silence of certain bodies, the application of double standards... have contributed a situation that may be dscribed as the rule for the jungle in the global arena," the Iranian ambassador stated. Amid that situation, according to him, Indonesia and Iran keep on pursuing the balanced and just international system based on the active and non-aligned foreign policy.

He further remarked that both countries shared principles of foreign policies beyond non-alignment, independence, dialog, equal cooperation. Those principles created opportunities for Indonesia and Iran to play constructive roles and influential middle power at regional and international level.

"Drawing upon the undeniable roles in West Asia and Southeast Asia, Iran and Indonesia have consistently sought to manage and contain regional tensions," he said. All while contributing the establishment of stability and security within respective regions.

Moreover, Ambassador Boroujerdi praised Indonesia's accession to BRICS in 2025, aligned with its presidency of the United Nations Human Rights Council in 2026. He said these achievements had expanded the opportunities for cooperation between the two countries.

The two countries had established diplomatic relations in 1950, and it has been ongoing for 75 years as of 2025. "Nevertheless, there remain many untapped avenues for cooperation between these two great Islamic nations, avenues that can be realized through strong political will and mutual commitment by the leaders of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Republic of Indonesia,"  Ambassador Mohammad Boroujerdi conveyed.
