RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesian Permanent Mission to the United Nations, WTO, and Other International Organizations in Geneva (PTRI Geneva) has been awarded first place in the Permanent Representations category at the 11th Geneva Engage Awards, recognized for making its diplomatic activities more accessible, relevant, and contextual to the public.

The annual awards, organized on February 3 by the Geneva Internet Platform (GIP) and DiploFoundation, honored PTRI Geneva for its innovative use of digital platforms to strengthen transparency, broaden outreach, and connect multilateral processes with everyday public interests.

Deputy Permanent Representative Ambassador Achsanul Habib emphasized that the recognition reflects more than just digital presence.

“This award is a testament to our efforts in translating complex multilateral issues into narratives that the public can easily understand,” he said in a statement received in Jakarta on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, as quoted by Antara.

He noted that digital diplomacy has become an inseparable part of how Indonesia represents itself internationally. The achievement also aligns with PTRI Geneva’s performance indicators, which place social media and digital platforms at the core of Indonesia’s public diplomacy strategy.

“Strengthening digital diplomacy allows us to present diplomatic activities in language that resonates with society. Multilateral issues, often seen as distant and technical, can be made more relevant so people can see their connection to daily life,” Ambassador Achsanul added.

The Geneva Engage Awards, now in its 11th edition, are organized annually by GIP, a platform established by Switzerland’s Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA) and Federal Office of Communications (OFCOM), and managed by DiploFoundation, an organization dedicated to advancing global internet governance and digital diplomacy.

In the Permanent Representations category, PTRI Geneva outperformed nine other nominees, including missions from countries with long-standing traditions in digital diplomacy such as France, the United Kingdom, Italy, and Russia.

The award was based on a quantitative analysis of social media reach, website accessibility, and the relevance of digital content produced by missions in Geneva during the evaluation period from January 1 to December 15, 2024. ***
