ATF 2026 Discusses Strategic Cooperation to Support Indonesia's Tourism Development Priorities

RRI.CO.ID, Cebu - Minister of Tourism Widiyanti Putri Wardhana strengthened partnerships with global stakeholders in an effort to promote the development of quality, sustainable, and competitive Indonesian tourism. It is on the sidelines of a series of ASEAN Tourism Forum (ATF) 2026 event in Cebu, Philippines.

Tourism Minister Widiyanti met with Agoda's Chief Commercial Officer, Damien Pfirsch, on Wednesday, 28 January 2026. The meeting discussed strengthening strategic cooperation to support Indonesia's tourism development priorities for 2026, particularly in driving digital transformation and sustainable growth.

Furthermore, Minister Widiyanti emphasized the importance of strengthening tourism human resources through collaboration with Agoda, including through the Agoda Academy and various training programs conducted at the Tourism Polytechnic under the auspices of the Ministry of Tourism, as well as other initiatives that support the development of quality tourism in Indonesia.

According to a release received by Voice of Indonesia on Thursday, January 29th 2026 on the same occasion, the Minister of Tourism also met with representatives of the United States–ASEAN Business Council (US-ABC).

At the meeting, Minister Widiyanti emphasized the importance of strategic planning, collaboration with the private sector, and ongoing dialogue to achieve national tourism development targets sustainably.

Moreover, he also addressed environmental and logistical challenges, particularly in developing Indonesia's cruise tourism potential.

The Indonesian government is targeting 16 million to 17.6 million international tourist arrivals by 2026. To achieve this target, strengthening partnerships with key industry players such as Visa, Marriott, Expedia, Airbnb, and the Royal Caribbean Group is necessary.
