RRI.CO.ID, Davos: Indonesia officially joined the Gaza Board of Peace in Davos, Switzerland on Thursday, 22 January 2026. The announcement was made during the Board of Peace Charter Announcement, a high-level international event hosted by the United States.

The Board of Peace was introduced as a new international body focused on peacebuilding. Based on the official announcement, the council brings together world leaders.

Gaza was identified as the first mandate under the Board of Peace framework. During the opening of the Board of Peace Charter Announcement, US President Donald Trump outlined the importance of the council.

He said the Board of Peace was created to strengthen global leadership in managing peace processes. Trump stressed the need for concrete action following peace agreements.

He further explained that the council is intended to unite top leaders in overseeing conflict resolution. He said the initiative is designed to translate peace efforts into enduring peace.

The Board of Peace, he conveyed, is meant to serve global interests rather than a single country. “As part of this historic record of major peace initiatives, today we're announcing more details regarding the Board of Peace. So important. This board has the chance to be one of the most consequential bodies ever created. And it's my enormous honour to serve as its chairman,” Trump stated.

Indonesia’s participation was marked by President Prabowo Subianto signing the Board of Peace Charter during the official ceremony. The signing formally confirmed Indonesia’s membership in the council.

Besides, it also underscored Indonesia’s commitment to international peace efforts. Speaking after the event, Prabowo described Indonesia’s involvement as a historic moment.

He said the initiative offered a genuine opportunity to end the conflict in Gaza. “I believe this is a historic opportunity. This is truly a historic chance to achieve peace in Gaza,” Prabowo stated.

According to the charter announcement, the Board of Peace will operate in coordination with the United Nations. Its responsibilities include overseeing peace commitments related to Gaza.

The council’s scope covers ceasefire, humanitarian coordination, and governance support. Several Islamic countries also joined the Board of Peace.

They include Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Turkey, Jordan, Pakistan, the United Arab Emirates, and Egypt. These countries signed the Board of Peace Charter alongside other international participants.
