RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia’s humanitarian support for Palestinians received renewed praise from the Palestinian ambassador in Jakarta as Indonesian National Zakat Agency (Baznas) handed over IDR 5 billion (around USD 300,000) in aid for Gaza.
The symbolic handover ceremony for the humanitarian program “Healing Palestine’s Wounds” took place at the Baznas headquarters in Jakarta on Thursday, May 21, 2026. The assistance was delivered through the Palestinian Embassy in Indonesia to support Palestinians affected by the ongoing conflict.
Palestinian Ambassador to Indonesia Abdalfatah A.K. Al-Sattari expressed deep appreciation to the Indonesian government and people for their continued solidarity and humanitarian contributions.
“I visited Baznas to thank them for everything and to congratulate the chairman because he is the new leader of this institution,” Abdalfatah said, as quoted on Baznas' official website.
The ambassador said he had felt a close sense of brotherhood between Indonesia and Palestine since arriving in Indonesia four months ago, describing the relationship as far beyond ordinary diplomatic ties.
He also reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation between Palestine and Indonesia through partnerships with Indonesian Foreign Affairs Ministry, Baznas, and the central government. The cooperation is aimed at improving humanitarian aid distribution to Gaza, where assistance remains difficult due to blockades.
According to Abdalfatah, the solidarity shown by Indonesians toward Palestine is unlike anything he has experienced in other countries. “I firmly believe that soon we will pray at Al-Aqsa Mosque, in shaa Allah, because Palestine will soon be free,” he said.
The ambassador also highlighted the actions of Indonesian volunteers involved in the Freedom Flotilla humanitarian mission, whose vessel was intercepted by Israeli authorities off the Gaza coast. He said the volunteers were now safe and would soon return to Indonesia through Turkey.
“When they arrive in Indonesia, I personally will welcome them and kiss their hands because they are true heroes,” he added.
The aid handover ceremony was attended by senior Baznas officials, regional Baznas representatives, Islamic charity organizations, and community leaders from across Indonesia. ***
