RRI.CO.ID, London - The President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, concluded his working visit to the UK with several concrete achievements that directly benefit national interests. They are such as multi-billion pound investment commitments and strategic cooperation in the maritime sector to higher education.

In a press statement at Stansted Airport, London on Wednesday, 21 January 2026, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, explained that during his time in the UK, President Prabowo held a number of important meetings, including with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer and King Charles III.

From the meeting, there were three main agreements that were the significant outcomes of President Prabowo's visit. First, the UK's investment commitment is 4 billion pounds sterling, equivalent to approximately Rp90 trillion. Second, strengthening cooperation in the maritime sector.

Third, cooperation in building 1,582 fishing vessels that will be produced and assembled in Indonesia. "Now, what's interesting is this, according to the Minister of Maritime Affairs, this ship will employ around 600,000 people. Why? Because it will be produced and assembled in Indonesia later," the Cabinet Secretary said.

In addition to the economic and maritime sectors, President Prabowo also paid significant attention to foster human resources through higher education cooperation. The President met with 24 professors from 24 leading universities in the United Kingdom, including King's College London, the University of Oxford, Imperial College London, the University of Edinburgh, and several other top universities.

"In essence, there's one thing: first, there's educational cooperation. So, the President wants to establish 10 new campuses in Indonesia, especially in the fields of medicine and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), which he will create in Indonesia," Teddy stated.

The Cabinet Secretariat also mentioned that the meeting between President Prabowo and the British Education Minister, as well as representatives from the Russell Group, a group of the best universities in the UK. He said it is also expected to boost the ranking of Indonesian universities globally.

In between those foreign visits, President Prabowo continued to pursue the national strategic agenda by leading coordination meetings via video conference with the Forest Area Order Task Force. It was formed in January 2025, two months after the President was inaugurated.

"After that meeting, which received a report from the Task Force, the President decided to revoke the licenses of companies that were proven to have violated the regulations," the Cabinet Secretary stated.

Tedy affirmed that the entire agenda of President Prabowo's foreign visits is always aimed at generating concrete benefits for Indonesia. "The point is, when the President goes abroad, he wants something to be gained, there to be a product, a result, a positive impact for Indonesia," the Cabinet Secretary said.
