Prabowo Outlines Education Vision to British Academics

RRI.CO.ID, London - The President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, emphasized that education is the key to a nation's success. The President made this statement while speaking at the UK-Indonesia Education Roundtable forum with representatives from a number of universities in the UK at Lancaster House, London, on Tuesday, 20 January 2026.

“I believe that education is the key to a nation's success. To become a successful nation, we must have the best education possible. That is my belief,” President Prabowo stated, as reported by the website of the President of the Republic of Indonesia.

On this occasion, President Prabowo also explained various national education policies currently being implemented by the government. One of them is the construction of boarding schools for children from underprivileged families with the aim of alleviating poverty.

“I believe this is the only way to break what I call, and what I hear from experts, the cycle of poverty,” he said.

Furthermore, President Prabowo revealed that to date, the government has built and operated 166 boarding schools. The Head of State also conveyed the government's plan to build boarding schools for students with the best academic achievements and integrated schools for the middle class.

In addition to building schools, the government is also expanding the implementation of distance digital learning to all schools in Indonesia. According to the President, the use of educational technology is a strategic step to make a leap forward in the education sector.

Prabowo stated, "So all schools in remote areas will have access to the best teachers in all subjects. This is a way for us to leap forward because we are actually far behind in our education standards. We acknowledge this."
