Ahead of 50th Diplomatic Anniversary, Qatar Reaffirms USD 4 Billion Investment

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Qatar has reaffirmed its commitment to boosting investment in Indonesia, with a total value of USD 4 billion, while also opening opportunities for wider cooperation across various strategic sectors. Qatar's Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Sultan bin Saad Al-Muraikhi, conveyed this commitment at his meeting with President Prabowo Subianto, at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, Monday, 15 June 2026.
The meeting discussed efforts to strengthen bilateral relations between Indonesia and Qatar, including investment cooperation and preparations for the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries, which will be commemorated in late 2026.
Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, stated that the Qatari minister conveyed warm greetings from the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, to President Prabowo. The Emir also expressed appreciation for President Prabowo’s leadership and Indonesia’s economic progress in recent years.
“The Emir of Qatar also praised President Prabowo’s leadership and Indonesia’s economic achievements, particularly the support for health, education, and nutritious meal programs,” Teddy said in a written statement.
In addition to economic cooperation, both sides also discussed a planned visit by the Emir of Qatar to Indonesia at the end of 2026. The visit is expected to mark an important milestone in commemorating five decades of diplomatic relations between Indonesia and Qatar, while further strengthening the strategic partnership between the two countries.
Teddy also said Qatar’s investment commitment reflects confidence in Indonesia’s economic outlook, which is considered promising amid global economic conditions. The investment is expected to support the national development agenda, strengthen key strategic sectors, and generate broader economic benefits for both nations.
The meeting between President Prabowo and Qatar’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs underscores the close and rapidly growing relationship between Indonesia and Qatar, not only in diplomacy but also in economic cooperation, investment, and development partnerships.
